Sinister 7 100-Miler Update
Hi |*FIRST_NAME*|,
All of you 100-milers are getting your own special update with a few details particular to that event. One week to go!
If you missed the previous updates, you can find them on the Race Roster registration page. https://raceroster.com/events/2024/80987/sinister-7-ultra
DETAILS... A RECAP
Here are a few key things to know and remember:
- Check-in is from 1:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday - yes, you can have someone check you in as long as you signed the online waiver
- No RVs in the parking lot at check-in! The lot is just too small, so take any big rigs to the High School or Crowsnest Community Christian Centre just down the road (see Travel link below)
- For information on solo drop bags, go to the Racer Info Package https://www.sinistersports.ca/sinister7/racer_information_package#_Toc732
- Racer meeting is at 7:00pm Friday
- The 100-miler starts in downtown Blairmore, in front of Stone's Throw Café at 7:00am sharp
- Please, do not park in front of homes or businesses the whole weekend - while everyone appreciates our visitors, there has been an ongoing problem with people parking for both events and to access the trails - there are designated parking areas on the travel map https://www.sinistersports.ca/sinister7/travel
- If soloists want to leave their cars at the Sports Complex and take the shuttle to the start line, it leaves at 6:15am - no second chances on that one
- The 100-mile awards will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday at the Sports Complex
WHERE TO EAT
We just want to give a shout-out to a few of the restaurants that support the race.
Stone's Throw Café is an original sponsor of the race, and has supported us every year. They are open for breakfast and lunch, and located right at the 100-mile / 50k start line.
• 13019 20 Ave, Blairmore - https://g.co/kgs/FeTw9bZ
Rum Runner Restaurant and Pub is a staple in the community and a long-time supporter of Sinister 7. They are open for lunch and dinner, have a big menu, and they serve food until later in the day. Try the Sinister Burger, named after yours truly.
• 7902 20 Ave, Coleman - https://g.co/kgs/wmH94yN
The Pass Beer Co. is another local favourite, and the finish line for many adventures. They specialize in their in-house micro-brews, flatbread pizza, and lots of different finger foods for sharing. PBC also cans the finisher beer for the race!
• 10801 20 Avenue, Blairmore - https://g.co/kgs/k7pX1nF
Crowsnest Pass Golf Club is a bit off the beaten track and offers what might be the best dining views in Crowsnest Pass. If you aren't cooked from the sun, grab a spot on the patio. They have a full menu and open from 8am to 8pm daily.
• 90 Golf Course Road, Blairmore - crowsnestpassgolf.com
MANDATORY LEG 2 SHUTTLE
Third reminder... Leg 2 Relay runners have a mandatory shuttle from the start area to TA1. We do this in order to relieve traffic congestion. There is almost no parking at TA1, and it gets to be a bit of a madhouse, so do not drive up there. Support crews for soloists can drive up, but they will be parking on the side of the road.
I LIKE MY COFFEE HOW I LIKE MY RACES
Dark, extra hot, and with a bit of burn. Mr. Sinister is giving a plug for Primus Equipment because I love my new camp stuff - no matter what else happens, you shouldn't be without good coffee on your travels, and this kit is the best for aid station or road side stops.
