Our story…

Love is the Answer (LITA) matches volunteers to lonely and isolated seniors in Marin County long-term care facilities. LITA volunteers bring friendship, laughter, unconditional love and hope to seniors who need to be reminded that their lives really matter. Sixty percent of the elderly living in care facilities have no family or friends that visit. LITA’s programs include our One-to-One Friends which matches volunteers with residents for weekly visits. Our PET Connection program involves volunteers' special pets as part of their weekly visits. When people move into a long-term care facility, they often leave a pet behind. The separation from their best friend can be devastating. Animals, children and music are often the last emotional pathways to reach seniors with memory care issues. Our Bridging Generations program matches seniors with elementary school children on a monthly basis and is very popular. And each year, we collect donated gifts as part of our Holiday Gifts program.
