NEW RELEASE | Estimated Read time – 3:00

Managing race day photos quickly and efficiently is key for achieving a smooth results experience. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce Stream Connect, a powerful new addition to Race Roster that simplifies photo management like never before.

With Stream Connect, you can upload entire photo collections seamlessly, without the need for batch uploads or interruptions. It integrates effortlessly into your workflow, saving you time and ensuring your event photography is ready to go with ease. Managing large photo collections has never been smoother!

What is Stream Connect?

Stream Connect is Race Roster’s new photo upload feature that connects directly with third-party file transfer clients like FileZilla. Instead of using your web browser to upload photos through our standard interface, Stream Connect provides you with secure FTP credentials to transfer files directly to our servers.

This approach bypasses the 1 GB web upload limitation entirely. You can now transfer gigabytes of photos at once, whether you’re dealing with a small 5K event or a major marathon with thousands of participants.

The feature appears as a new “Stream Connect” option right on your Race Roster photos app homepage. Click it, and you’ll receive all the connection details and credentials needed to link your file transfer client to our servers.

How Stream Connect Works

You can set up Stream Connect quickly by grabbing your server credentials and uploading your photos through an FTP client—FileZilla users can even import a pre-configured file for easy setup. Once uploaded, import your photos directly into Race Roster with just a few clicks for seamless organization and sharing.

Key Benefits for Event Organizers

Stream Connect simplifies and enhances the results workflow, making it easier than ever to manage large photo collections.

Unlimited Upload Capacity: One major advantage is that Stream Connect now allows for larger uploads, removing the need to split collections into multiple sessions. Marathon photographers often capture 10-20 GB of images per event, and with Stream Connect, these large collections can now be uploaded in a single, seamless transfer.

Reliable Background Processing: FTP transfers are inherently more stable than web browser uploads. If your internet connection experiences a brief interruption, your FTP client will typically resume the transfer automatically. This reliability proves especially valuable when uploading large collections that might take several hours to complete

Simplified Workflow Management: Creating appropriately named folders before uploading means your photos arrive organized and ready for publication. No more uploading first, then spending additional time organizing and renaming galleries afterward.

Time Savings: The combination of unlimited capacity and background processing translates to significant time savings. Instead of monitoring multiple upload sessions throughout the day, you can start one transfer and focus on other post-event tasks like participant communications or results processing.

Coming Soon: Facial Recognition for Enhanced Photo Tagging

Stay tuned for additional enhancements for Race Roster Photos! Soon, our photos app will utilize facial recognition to tag photos where bib numbers may be obscured from view. This new feature will not require participants to upload their own reference photo. Instead, it will use any single photo where a participant has been tagged with a bib number as a reference image to tag other photos where the participant’s face is visible. This feature will be especially helpful for situations where participants may cover their bibs as they stop their watches while crossing the finish line.

Transform Your Photo Management Today

With unlimited uploads and a streamlined workflow management, Steam Connect eliminates the hassle of technical limitations. Available now at no cost, simply log into your account and start using Stream Connect through the photos app today!

Race Roster

At our core, we are event organizers and athletes serving event organizers and athletes. Race Roster was founded by a group of friends with combined interests in running, technology, and event management. After organizing their own 10K in 2010, it was very apparent that the running industry was in dire need of better technology. Since May of 2012, Race Roster has partnered with over 4,000 organizers to grow, manage and execute on race day!
