Exciting Updates: What’s new for Start Groups?
New Release | Estimated Read time – 3:00
We’ve enhanced our Start Groups feature with powerful new capabilities that put more control in your hands and save you valuable time on race day.
If you’ve been waiting for a more efficient way to organize participants at the start line, this update is for you!
1. Start Groups in Race Roster’s Onsite App

Start Groups are now fully integrated into Race Roster’s Onsite App, giving you everything you need to manage participants on the ground without switching platforms or relying on printed lists.
Here’s what you can do directly from the app:

Search by Start Groups:
Quickly locate participants based on their assigned start group.

View Start Group Assignments:
Check which start group a participant belongs to with just a few taps. This gives your check-in team instant access to the information they need to keep lines moving smoothly. For example, volunteers can ensure participants are dynamically assigned the correct bib based on their start group. This is especially helpful if bibs require a sticker to confirm a participant’s wave.

Edit Start Groups On-Site:
Need to make a last-minute adjustment? You can now edit a participant’s start group assignment directly in the Onsite App. Whether it’s correcting an error or accommodating a special request, you have the flexibility to make changes without disrupting your workflow.
This integration brings Start Group management to your fingertips exactly when and where you need it most.
2. Auto-Assignment for Start Groups

One of the biggest time-savers in this update is the new auto-assignment toggle. When enabled, participants are automatically assigned to their selected start group—no manual approval required.
This feature is perfect for events where participants self-select their start group based on pace or estimated finish time. Instead of reviewing and approving each request individually, you can let the system handle assignments automatically, freeing you up to focus on other aspects of event management.
Of course, you still have full control. You can review assignments at any time and make manual adjustments as needed. But for most participants, auto-assignment eliminates unnecessary steps and gets everyone organized faster.
